Our Story

I am AnnMarie Iadanza Munoz, founder of The Calling Store. I was raised in Medford Lakes, New Jersey, by MaryAnn Iadanza and Deacon John Iadanza. In my community, I was often known not by my given name, but as “The Deacon’s Daughter.” My parent's unwavering Catholic faith shaped my upbringing, instilling in me the importance of prayer, service and trusting in God’s guidance.

Throughout my life, I have personally witnessed the healing touch and grace of Jesus - moments that have comforted, guided, and strengthened me. These experiences shaped my spiritual journey and ultimately inspired the creation of The Calling Store as a ministry of faith.

During the 2023 Lenten season, as I prayed with The Ascension Lenten Companion: Year A, Journal, something stirred deeply within my heart. Each daily reflection and Scripture reading awakened a quiet yet undeniable call - one that invited me to step beyond prayer and reflection and to journey physically closer to Christ. It was then that I felt drawn toward a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, sensing that Jesus Himself was guiding me toward a life-changing encounter. The call was so profound that it felt less like a decision and more like a gentle whisper of His presence, calling me to follow Him in a tangible, transformative way.

I reached out to my father, Deacon John, and asked him to help arrange a pilgrimage to the Holy Land. Although I believed I was being led to Israel, the outbreak of war redirected my journey to Rome instead.

Still determined to follow His call, I journeyed to Rome, not yet knowing where He would lead me. My steps eventually brought me to the Scala Sancta, the Holy Stairs that I would later learn were the very steps Jesus Himself climbed before Pontius Pilate. As I stood before the stairs, I knew I could not attempt it with my knee because once begun, turning, standing up or stepping down was prohibited.

Without saying a word to my husband, I felt an inner push to go up the stairs so I started climbing on my knees. Each step became an act of prayer, humility, and surrender. Though my knee still caused discomfort from a previous surgery, I placed my trust entirely in Jesus. With every step, I felt His presence drawing nearer, a quiet but powerful reminder of His sacrifice and love.

Only afterward did I fully learn the truth: these were the very steps of Christ. In that sacred moment, I understood with awe and gratitude that I had truly "walked in His steps".

Four days before the first anniversary of that pilgrimage, I unexpectedly lost my job. Rather than feeling fear, I was filled with peace and even excitement, certain that Jesus was leading me toward something new. For years, I had felt called to share His message; yet with a full-time job, the care of my children, and the demands of everyday life, finding the time to answer that call felt impossible.

On the morning of April 12, 2025, while attending Mass during the consecration of the Eucharist, Rev. Anthony slightly turned his head from across the sanctuary and looked directly into my eyes. In that instant, I knew it was not merely him I was seeing, it was Jesus looking at me through his eyes. His presence was so vivid, so real and personal, that I knew He was speaking directly to my heart.

I shared the experience with my husband, Donny Munoz, describing the profound encounter and the sense of Jesus calling me to a greater purpose. Together, we prayed, reflected, and felt a deep conviction that this was truly His call - a mission we could not ignore. Inspired and resolute, we took our first tangible step of faith that very day by purchasing our domain, TheCallingStore.com. Thus began our journey, guided by the words that had shaped both our pilgrimages and our hearts: “Walking in His Steps.”
